Man wanted mercy to mean that God would ask less of him.

God answered with a Cross.

He did not call evil good.
He did not make peace with sin.
He did not bend justice until mercy became cheap.

At Calvary, mercy did not compromise with justice.

God did not compromise with man.

He reconciled man to Himself.

The Cross was not a compromise.
